Lytes Carey Manor was the home of Henry Lyte, a medieval herbalist and the garden still grows the plants he cultivated. It is really worth a visit if you are ever in Somerset. We have visited at least four times and have enjoyed it every time. Here are some views: -

That is fantastic news! Each and every one is much appreciated Eric.
Incidentally, how many photos (approx of course) do you take on such a visit?
I like how you throw in a few photos of the flowers in each visit.
Theres a challenge in there for us. Name those flowers. Lets do that.
Go ahead and name them folk.

Okay, we'll start off with our suggestions:
- Plant photo 1 - Helianthus annuus Solar Eclipse F1 Hybrid
- Plant photo 2 - Globe Thistle (not too certain on that one)
- Plant photo 3 - Sedum
- Plant photo 4 - Eryngium giganteum - Miss Willmott's Ghost - Sea Holly

Thank you Laurie. As you know with my knowledge (or lack of) I won't challenge you :)

Well Eric, we're not experts so may still be wrong. :D
We'll wait until other people have a look and see what they think.

Photo 3 is an Achillea, but don't know which one, the leaves give it away (lower centre in picture below) if you look closely at Erics picture.

Sorry George, I didn't reply to this question of yours.
The number of photos I take varies a lot. I took almost 60 at Eastleach that I posted recently. Hatfield House (which is still to come) I took aboot 80 shots. Doddington on the other hand which I also posted you are seeing about three quarters of all my shots. I usually take details of the architecture and a few general shots of the garden and a detail of one or two plants that take my fancy. Nothing very systematic.
Now I have started posting them here I will have to become a bit more methodical :)

Thank you for supplying identification, Laurie & Malcolm. I added Malcom's identification to the shots taken at Forde Abbey so I thought I should add the names you provided here too.
