Title: Seed Germination

Some time ago I posted my method of seed germination  well today I transplanted seedlings variety Pansy (Clear crystals) and there is an 81% success rate not to bad eh, I am just trying to show that the method does work, trying for a higher % with future sowings,the trouble with me is I am never satisfied when I can sow 20 seed and get 20 plants in return then maybe I will be, until then it's a case of keep trying anyway time for a cuppa.

81% success rate is exceptionally good! Thanks for the good advice.
How are the Pansys coming on Harry?

Hi George
              The pansies are doing really well the greenhouse and cold frame are full to overflowing, the plants I have sown recently are Dahlia (Bishops Children) I will post the results when germination is complete but it's looking good so far

Isnt it a wonderful experience.
To me, you cant call yourself a gardener until youve grown things from seed.

                                   I could send you both a pkt of Dahlia ( Bishops Children) if you would like to try an experiment of your own or you could try my little trial yourselves just to prove it was not a fluke.

P.S  I don't know if it works with Perrenials they may take longer to germinate

I think I'm going to try it out on perennials. First I have to find vermiculite. I have the impression that material is easier to buy in your country than here in Belgium. In all case I will looking for it this week and start sowing as quickly as I get it. Let you know the results.

Thanks for the offer of the seed. However, I am completeley under pressure, time wise in the greenhouse and garden.
But, if you want to send a few seed, thank you, I'll sow them!
Like Andre, I have never found a local supply of vermiculite, so it would have to be in normal seed compost (I have some left)
