Request to Members for Garden Tour Info.
« on: May 18, 2009, 04:15:19 PM »
This is a request to any of our members who have opened their gardens to the public, to explain what was involved in bringing this venture to fruition.

Lyn & Malcolm and Eric (Palustris) have recently done this, so it would be great to hear from them (when time allows of course) to go through the various stages involved.  :)

Also, if any of our other members have done this but have not yet mentioned it on the forum, then we'd certainly like to hear from you.

If you would like to contribute your experience/s here, just start a new topic and give as much detail as possible, accompanied by any photos if you have them.

If anyone has not opened their gardens to the public before they might just get the inspiration to give it a try.

So, over to you now people.

Laurie.

Thank you Laurie

Yes I will do an in depth description of all that is involved when we open for the National Garden Scheme. This year is our ninth year of opening. :o
I will not write it in one go, would prefer to do several postings over a period of time.

Would that be ok.

That would be great Malcolm.  8)

As you will have your own topic to do this, you can post whatever you want and as often as you want.

It will make great reading and it won't be a sensory overload if you did it all in one go.  ;D

It will give us all a chance to follow along with you at a leisurely pace.

You've taken up the challenge admirably.

Thank you Malcolm.

Laurie.

I am not sure that our experience would be of any value to anyone, in that this was a one off, not to be repeated occasion where we welcomed a group of friends to visit the garden altogether rather than as they have in the past, individually. We certainly are not in a position to open under the NCCPG Yellow Book scheme.

I'd like to see your account of your experience in opening your garden, Eric.
Having managed to open for one day, you have a lot of experience to relate, and it would be invaluable to others considering such an event.
