Poplar is the common name for the Genus Populus.
Ive looked up the Master Database - no Populus 35 listed.
I then clicked the RHS button.
Editing, and changing the search to Populus (the whole Genus) gives this link:
http://www.rhs.org.uk/rhsplantfinder/plantfinder2.asp?crit=Populus&Genus=Populus
No entry for 35.

I thought perhaps it was a Collector number. It could be of course.

If you are still on speaking terms with the owner after the goats went on their spree  ;D why not ask where he bought them?

About a nice height for a goat to munch  ;D

Heres a wee challenge for you, and other members of course.

Open the Master Database using IG, IG Pro, Flower Genie or Bonsai Genie.
Use GA004
Start typing Populus in the Genus field
When you get to pop, only Populus is left in the selection list
Click Populus
All plants in the Genus appear.
As example, double click on Populus × canescens
Screen GA100S36 appears (IG, IG Pro)
Click the RHS button
The RHS page shows there are 6 Suppliers.
Click on Suppliers
Visit the supplier websites.
You should be able to see what they have to offer, height as supplied etc.
e.g. For Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland there is one supplier:
Future Forests
IFFs
Bantry, Rep. of Ireland
Its a long time since I was down in the SW of Ireland, but it sure is a lovely part of the country. I travelled down to Dingle (a couple of bays along the coast in Co Kerry) to meet up with a bunch of the lads I played Irish music with, for a session or two.
How far is Bantry from you?

I thought you were fairly close.
Now youve mentioned that, I think I was at the Rose of Tralee festival a long time ago!

No motorways in those parts, so its a nice unspoilt view of the country for travellers.
How far are you from Bantry?

Wonders, it works George! I can get a populus x canescens by mail order from Shropshire but I don't have any space to plant it  ;D

A lovely place, George. We went several times when the boys were young. Here is a shot I took of the High Street in 1961!

And here is Anthea with two of the boys and a friend at the harbour, also in 1961

Oh, and by the way, sorry about the goats Phil  ;D

Well, youve completed the challenge, so thats what counts Eric :D

Lovely photos Eric, youve captured the lifestyle in the early 60's perfectly.
Looks like market day! As you can see, in those days people had time to stop and have a chat in the street! Mind you they were probably doing bit of dealing (and in those days the term was respectable >:()
Thats a lovely one of Anthea and the boys. I'm sure they will treasure that. Is the boy :) who plays in the orchestra in the photo?

There are many poems written in Chinese about Poplar trees
It was planted along both side of  the mainroad in China.
I was curious during my several trips to the provinces.
But whether it is Poplar 35 I do not know.
Was told that the trees are grown for 5 years and
harvested for paper and chopsticks (our utensils for picking up food). :)

Just check the chinese websites, seems that there are about 100 species,
50 are planted in China, the leaves are good animal feeds.

Will try to translate more and post here.
