A day off work
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:49:40 PM »
I took a little break yesterday. Tara (my daughter) invited Erin, her American friend over for St Patricks day.
They met up at Manchester University where they are both studying (so they tell me).
I offered to take them out for the afternoon on a little bit of sightseeing.
A few Japanese maples were potted before we set off, with Sunday lunch en route.

First stop: The windy gap,on the very tip of the Dromara mountains, Co Down
Ive always heard of this place, but have never been to it before.

Tara and Erin, on top of the windy gap, with the Mourne Mountains in the background.

Tara, Erin and Jordan (my grandson) on the very summit of the mountain, and a view in the other direction.

From this vantage point, 5 of the 6 counties in Northern Ireland can be seen.

Remember the Mourne mountains in the background? An hour or so later, and here we are right beside them.
This is Newcastle, Co Down.
Now, theres a very famous song by a guy called Percy French and the words go...
"Where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea"
Its my favourite background to photos. You can see it happening right behind Tara and Erin.

I have one of my Mum and Tara (when she was a tot) taken with the same background.
