Change of plan.
It was proving too unwieldy to make a WPG with all members included.
Instead, Ive now decided to make up a WPG for each individual member, and tie them all together with a "home" page.
I'll add the link here later.
Heres the first Members Garden (still needs more work as of time of posting)
http://www.ideasforgardens.com/RoseSocietyNI/RoyMoore/I was spending excessive time on the net on this project. I had great difficulty matching up my scribbled noted to the photos, since I am very much an amateur when it comes to Roses.
To avoid repetition when I encountered the same rose when I progressed to other member gardens I decided to create my own reference point.
Heres the result -
Rose Garden Photos:
http://www.cultivars.co.uk/Roses/Ive made a few tweaks to the WPG program to allow some of the features you see here.
One tweak was to allow special handling of plants with Trade Names.
e.g. Rosa Ainsley Dickson (='Dickimono') PBR AGM
Note how in the plants list, the plant name is listed as Rosa Ainsley Dickson
Its sold under that name (the trade name). Note that Ainsley Dickson (the Trade name) is NOT enclosed in single quotes.
When you click the link, the web page with the photo shows the full name, as would be found in the RHS Plant Finder.
'Dickimono' is Cultivar name under which the plant was registered. This NEVER changes.
Note that the trade name CAN be changed!!! An example would be where it would sell better with a different name in another country.
PBR means the plant is protected by Plant Breeder Rights
AGM means it has been awarded the prestigious Award of Garden merit by the RHS
You'll find other symbols in the list e.g. (F) = Floribunda
The Trade Name feature is an option.
Note how in this WPG:
http://www.ideasforgardens.com/RoseSocietyNI/RoyMoore/- Ive unchecked the option, so Trade Names are not shown.
