George suggested I post this question on the board and I hope this is where it belongs.
I live in South Texas, Austin area, USDA zone 8 (but we are really hot with lots of triple digit temps. I want to do some disectum maples. I found a grower in the US who does nothing but grow and graft lots of cultivars. For US 4.50 each, I bought 5 each of 'Tamukeyama', 'Garnet', and 'Crimson Queen' because I was told these would be more likely to stand our heat. I know they will have to be protected from our summer sun and would like to hear from others in re their care. Any info will be appreciated.
These are 1 year scions on 2 year root stocks. They are so delicate I am afraid to breath around them. I have had them several weeks, on a covered patio, in dappled shade, and so far so good. Will they stand exposure to morning sun? I know it is a long shot because I have not seen any growing in this area. Any advice or have I wasted my money? Gene
