« on: March 29, 2007, 01:00:23 PM »
I have just taken delivery of 5 new Japanese Maples from Esvelds in Holland
They have arrived in reasonable condition and look healthy enough
Beni Gasa
Hemelbrijk
Kinran
Moonfire
Shikage ori Nishiki
You can read about them on Esveld's site

They look like good sized plants, Billy, so will make an immediate impact in your Japanese garden.

I hope you will post a few photos when they have leafed out.
How did you go about choosing them? Did you hear good reports?
What exciting features do they exhibit?

I was looking for orange autumn colour George, so two or three were chosen for that reason
I simply went through Esveld's site, marked a few that appeared interesting, then went back again over those and picked 5
Total cost was about £165 including postage and packing so was still a little cheaper than buying here, and I could choose what I wanted.  When I buy here I have to take what they have, the only advantage being that you see what you are getting :)
Exciting features???   They will be beautiful  :) :) :)

Bet you cant wait to see them in leaf, and I cant wait to see your "seasons" set of photos for each of them.
Are they bigger or smaller than the ones you usually buy locally?

Meant to ask - do you ever loose any over winter?

The autumn orange coloured maples sure are nice, Billy. Ive seen them in a residential area in Hillsborough.
