He's great company in the garden Chrissie. I'll have to make the most of it while the going is good. Too many more interesting things for kids on the go nowadays.
I reckon I have slightly acidic soil, Rhodos, Azaleas and Magnolias grow well for me as well.
That particular Hydrangea was given to me by my sister. Her husband dug it up because it never flowered for them. Its in full sun in that spot (if we were ever to get full sun
) What a "summer" it has been.
Problem is, it was infested with bindweed. I have to work hard to keep it in check or it would smother that plant.
I also have pink Hydrangeas, so acidic soil doesnt make pink hydrangeas go blue.
Ive read that alkaline soil is "sweeter", so I think you would probably be able to have more success with the plants that dont do so well in my garden - my roses are very poor. Mind you, I should give them more attention.
