Acers at Greer Gardens (USA)
« on: January 21, 2008, 04:41:43 PM »
John Bullivant (JohdB) on the forum sent me this link for Rhododendrons:
http://www.greergardens.com

When I poked around, I found their Acer list, and this "slide show"
Click into the document and click your enter button to page through the photos:

Warning: Its a BIG file 10 mbyte, AND its a pdf file, so will be slow to load, even with broadband.
Well worth the wait!!

Brilliant photos!

This nursery is here in our town, Eugene, Oregon.
I love that place. I have bought from them for at least 15 years or more, before I moved here. So my it was a pleasant surprise after we moved to Eugene (5 years ago) when I found out, that this place is right in town.

I have visited them many times and they are very nice people, know their plants and have great selection and healthy plants.

They got a nice garden area too, one can wander around.

We are lucky in the North West and especially Eugene to have so many great nurseries all around us.

Some really superb photographs there, and some varieties that I have not heard of before

I thought you'd like them Billy!!

My work colleagues are now Japanese maple admirers - how could anybody not be with the fantastic photos on the web nowadays. 'course, they all know about your site:
http://www.fujiyamagarden.com/
They hear me raving about it all the time  ;)
(My colleagues might point out that I could cut out the word it - mostly about gardening of course  ;D )

I called them all over to my computer when I opened that big pdf. What a pleasant surprise - you just habe to share these things  :)

Glad youve found a few new ones - no doubt the pick of them will be appearing in Fujiyama before long!
Have you a list for this year?

As for Isabell - well, I'm just downright jealous!!
I have read a lot about the Nurseries in Oregon in relation to Japanese maples. I'm sure its the best stocked state in the US!

How about taking some photos of Greer gardens this year Isabell? That would be a real treat for us.

By the way. My brother in law is called Eugene (they call him Gene now in US)
He lives in Canada, but bought a house in Palm Springs (which we plan to visit in November)
He was "home" in Ireland for Christmas. Remembering that you lived in Eugene, I asked him if he'd ever been in that town with his name.
He informed me that when he drives down, he breaks the journey with a stop over in "his" town.
