Anon bulb
« on: July 14, 2007, 06:58:39 PM »
Found this flowering the Alpine House. No label and I do not remember planting it. Certain it is a bulb, if only because of the strap like leaves. The flower is about 2 cms across.
Anyone any ideas?

No, but we think it may be a Brodiaea minor. Got a Botanist friend visiting in a few weeks time so may ask him, as it is about to flower.

It looks very like youve got a good starting point in identifying the correct genus. I can see the similarity in comparison to the images in the links below.

Interesting genus  8)
This web page has it as a Californian Native

and theres info here

Please let us know if you get an ID from your botanist friend. Its nice to get these things resolved.
