Puzzle No 1

I photographed this little beauty in a neighbours garden in May 2004.
Colour is fairly well captured in the photos.

First clue:
Its a member of a genus of Winter flowering large shrubs

How about Viburnum plicatum - possibly Pink Beauty

OK, correct Genus, Correct species.
First name in cultivar correct.
Have another go!

The only other one I can find  (via Google) is Pink Sensation. It doesn't appear in any of my books though.

If it were possible, I'd give you 11 out of 10, Sylvia.
You've got it!

I had to go looking for the name of the plant when you had the first guess.
I remembered reading the label and writing it down very carefully, for it was such a beauty.
Leaves were also very handsome (a bit like my V. bodnantense 'Dawn'), coarse and purple tinted.
You can just about make them out in my photo.

I then had a look for it in the RHS A-Z   - as you have confirmed, no mention.
Then had a look in a number of my RHS Plant Finder books (I buy the new one each year) and again no mention, so going to be difficult to buy here, yet there it was in a LOVELY (professionally landscaped!) garden not 200 yds from my home.
I did as you did, went on the net, and found it on the great Patrick Breens OSU site (which prompted my postings about good Resources!)
