not seen the programme but here there was a programme with richard corrigan a chef, and he was helping people set up allotments and he went to a grower who grew leeks and he had to plough them back into the field due to supermarkets buying in veg from abroad, which meant he was priced out of the market, what awaste of time and money for the farmer, they even showed other produce classed as no good for the same reasons as you mentioned
Not gonna name any supermarket, incase i get banned from them
, but they have a section for irish grown produce and i was looking through it one day picked up a bag of carrots grown in spain, kept on looking and their were various products grown outside of this country yet placed in the area for irish grown produce, so my question is if you saw this area with a banner "support your irsh farmer, irish grown produce" would you check the packaging on the product to make sure ?
