Today we woke up to a thaw. All the lovely patterns on the trees were gone first thing.
But - we have no water!
Went to sons house about 3pm yesterday, came home - no water from the mains tap. Thought perhaps it was turned off by the Water Services. This morning, no change. Checked witrh neighbours - their water was on.
Had to connect our outside water hose to neighbours. Still no water, flexible hose frozen. Had to take it apart (covered in ice and snow) and indoors and thaw by running parts of the hose through a bucket of warm water. Got it all connected again, and with the outside tap opened, the water came in "in reverse" and filled the header tank (a huge relief at this stage as it was almost empty) and we had water from our mains tap.
Stayed connected like that all day, as we had all the family for Turkey dinner. Dont know how we would have managed if we had been filling buckets of water as we did earlier in the day.
After dinner, I disconnected the supply from next door, and still no water from mains
Its been raining here for a few hours, and quite mild.
I'm assuming its a bit of ice in the mains supply, before it gets to my stop cock, or some other type of blockage.
Has this ever happened to any other members?
