Before moving on to the next version of Bank Genie, I have to put the finishing touches to the User Guide.
Ive been working on it this past few weeks, so you can imagine the amount of time and effort needed for that resource.
In doing so, I made a few tweaks to some of the programs in Bank Genie (both 4 and Pro) as the software is tightly integrated with the User Guide.
I'm broadcasting this message so Bank Genie members can download the latest program updates and perhaps do a little proof reading.
Start Bank Genie Pro (or Bank Genie 4) and under Help, start the program:-
Bank Genie on the Web.
Click the link and get to the Program Updates page.
Download the latest versions of these programs:
BS408 (The Transaction Analyser) - when installed make sure you have version 50 or higher
BS420 (Categories) - when installed make sure you have version 10 or higher
BS421 (Manage Transactions) - when installed make sure you have version 37 or higher
BS427 (Invoices) - when installed make sure you have version 6 or higher
Most important!!Download the latest version of the
Fileset. Its at the bottom of the page.
Click the link
Please read these instructions before starting that download
The fileset has all the updates links from Bank Genie to the User Guide.
To check if you have installed the Fileset corectly:
Start Bank Genie 4 or Bank Genie Pro.
Under Help, start the program About Bank Genie.
When installed correctly,
Item 1-File Set Version should indicate Issue Date =21/11/2012 (or later)
Today, the exercise is for the 4 programs listed above (and they include the most important programs in Bank Genie).
I'd like you to start Bank Genie 4 or Bank Genie Pro, and click the
User Guide links at the bottom of each screen as you use the system.
As you know, the links are targeted to the precise page in the
User Guide where help is delivered on that specific screen.
ALSO: Be sure to check the
Show Help balloons checkbox.
Then run your mouse over the page. Each time a balloon indicates that help is available, right click on the control under the mouse pointer to visit the User Guide.
In this case where Help is available for a specific control (button, pop-up, checkbox etc) Bank Genie will open the User Guide on the correct Help page AND will navigate to the appropriate Help paragraph on the web page - i.e. VERY targeted help.
Please proof read what you see on the User Guide website. If you find anything that needs clarified or corrected, any typos, bad links from Bank Genie to the User Guide, or any bad links to screenshots from within the User Guide, please let me know.
For those who don't have Bank Genie, the User Guide is here:
