New program- Database Explorer - GA037

GA037 is the IG equivalent of FG037 in Flower Genie, with a few new things to keep you amused.

For the record, it was introduced on 9th Sept 06. If your CD was despatched to you before that date, heres the instructions.

Go to the Ideas Genie on the Web Product support web site and click the link for IG Pro Program Updates
Heres a shortcut right to the download page:

Download the following:
1) Menu - It?s the first item on the download list.
2) GA037
3) File Set (at the bottom of the page)
    You need the new File set to give you the new HELP text (see below)
4) GA901-06-dl.exe
    Note: Be careful: DO NOT download the one called GA901-dl.exe


For some reason, some folk overlook the menu download item.
You'll need it to take your Menu Version to 3.02.20060909
It allows you to click and run the new program GA037.

Theres also updates for the following programs for the same date:
GA004, GA006, GA022, GA027, GA029, GA030

When downloaded and installed:
DO A BACKUP in case something goes wrong!
Then Start Ideas Genie Pro
Run the program Systems> Special - GA901
It should have the description - Database Alterations.
Read the HELP on that screen
Then click the button.

Start the Preferences program (GA198)
Look for the field which says "Allow auto screen resizing"
Check it.

Now try running the program called Database Explorer - GA037. Its under the
Programs tab on the NEW menu.

And now time for the try-out, garden folks.

First the downloads. They went smooth and easy.

Then after starting Ideas Genie Pro: System >Special - GA901 - Database Alterations: there I got: .\
I clicked the Go-button and got a message that 4 changes were performed.

Then I tried GA198 and clicked the field "Allow auto screen resizing".
GA037S01 appeared with well functioning buttons. Only the SEND button gives
the text: 'You cannot send Ideas Genie Plants yet. Coming soon.'
The Edit button seems something marvellous. Offers the possibilty to gather a lot of info on one screen.

Absolutely BRILLIANT!!
Everything correct!!

Being able to do those 4 changes using that program is REVOLUTIONARY!!
I can now add new things AND make small database extensions to allow you to save more data.
In that program release, 4 new fields were added to various database tables, to allow new features introduced in GA037 and GA032.

Example. The Web Page field is new.
If you dont have a photo for a plant, you can quickly link the plant to a good Web Page.
Heres how to use it.
Start program GA037
Select a plant of your choice.
Look for the very small G (=Google) button beside Web Page.
Click it.
Find a web address for info or photo for the plant.
Get back to GA037S01
Click the + button.
Paste the URL into the text area
Click OK
Its saved when you click OK.

Now you can click the Web Page button (it becomes activated) and revisit the
web page at any time.

There are a few things to do yet, so you will get messages just like that.
