Dubai visitors to Georges garden - July 2013

Yawn, yawn says James - Ive posed in front of these flowers before
I planted Livingstone daisies in the same spot on the corner this year as they were a real success last year.
I took a lovely photo of James when they were in full glory.
If you've grown these before you will know that they are spectacular midday, and close up later in the afternoon.
We were a bit late today as they had started to close for the day.


Excuse the state of the summer seat please
Its a family heirloom and I can remember it outside our house "up the lane" when I was a boy.

Then Vera spotted this beautiful creature.

More family members having fun outdoors  
Living in Dubai they must be well used to the heat though.

Our turn might come Sunday when our little family visit for a birthday tea. ( Rog becomes and official 'old codger' on Monday)

And that's a Burnet Moth, very pretty.  We have them on our hillside, although I haven't seen any so far this year.

Nice to have family visitors when the weather is good and the garden at its best, George. We were delighted that Kiftsgate was at its best when we had ours last weekend.

Your lawn looks a lot greener than ours though. Have you been watering it?

Thanks for the ID on the Burnet Moth Trish. The Six-spot Burnet Moth to be exact, I believe.
I've now looked it up on Wikipedia and its absolutely identical.
I've never noticed one of those before. Mind you, I can hear them more than see them with head down focused on weeding.

Happy birthday to Rog I hope you all enjoy the momentous event. Nothing beats a family get together.

I had to rush about to get the grass cut and edging done before inviting everyone out for a photo shoot Eric.
Ive noticed that photos can make a lawn which looks pleasant to the eye look brown and ugly (see my previous set of photos in June).
No watering - I wouldn't have time for all that However, there are no large thirsty trees and shrubs in the vicinity.
In the July heatwave, the only part which went a bit scorched was under our Rowan tree in the side garden.
The heavy rain this week has worked wonders already.
