Finding plants in your database
« on: October 13, 2006, 10:44:58 AM »
I'm sure you've noticed by now that there a few alternative interfaces in the IG programs to allow you to find a plant in your database.
Ive developed a new interface to allow the plant names to appear as you type.
I've built that into the new Print Photos - GA049 program for starters.

A special screen appears, with 3 fields to help you locate a plant
Field No 1) Genus
Start typing a genus name
As you type, the list of genera appear in a list, continually updating as you type
Click on a genus in the list
Another list appears to display ALL plants in that genus.
Click to select your plant

Field No 2) Species
Start typing a species name
As you type, a continually updating list with genera + species appears
Click on a genus+species in the list
Another list appears to display plants in that species within that genus.
Click to select your plant

Field No 3) Cultivar
This is the quickest method to locate a plant
Start typing a cultivar name
As you type, a continually updating list with genera + cultivar appears (species names and subspecies names omitted)
In this case you can select your plant immediately, by clicking on a cultivar in the list

Ive tested this new search feature with the Master database and I'm deligted to say it works perfectly.

Try out the new Print Photos program to see this in use, and let me have your comments.
