The Ideasguy garden in June 2010
« on: June 07, 2010, 12:06:55 AM »
A few of the photos I took today.

James poses beside the subject. He's well trained, he knows to stand beside the nice plants, rather than in front of them.
Look at that smile. I spent an hour weeding before taking that photo, with James assisting. I heard a swish from the bamboo cane he was playing with and turned round just in time to save that gorgeous polemonium (right) from being beheaded  :o

Now the top of the garden. James was playing n the middle of the garden as I worked during the week. Suddenly he called "Papa, come and see this". I downed tools and hurried to see what he had discovered - he had spotted the Rhodo in full bloom and was excited at the transformation from the time we looked at the big buds. I am proud of that boy!
It was half heartedly raining so had to be quick.
James takes up his position left of the Rhodo, but his Dad knew my old tricks and decided to play games ::)

James posed for me in front of the Poached Egg plant corner. Ive just finished restoring that island bed. A few years of neglect. What a job!

He was in photogenic mood today. He paused for this shot on his way to the car, sheltering under my prized Acer 'Ayoagi'

and from that, I zoomed in for a terrific close up.

OK, the boys had gone home so heres a quick trip round the garden.

Great photos George.

Your garden is looking immaculate and full of cover.

Your hard work in the garden is paying off. :)

Laurie.

great pics lovely looking garden, wish mine was that nice, apart from the front bed, the front, rear and side is grass with some trees planted in the rear, it takes about 2 hours to cut all the grass with my ride on, we reckon its a good 3/4 of an acre just out the back  :o

Thanks Laurie and Phil. I'm a bit overdue with photos.
Many thanks to Eric Hardy for his tips and advice on getting the best from my Canon 450D. Theres a lot of things to learn :)
I'm getting much better results now Ive been pointed in the right direction.

Hard work - yes, indeed.
Immaculate? - I wish! Needs more work yet to gain that status - not something I ever expect to achieve :)
I enjoy walking around and being surprised by something new bursting into bloom during the seasons.

Our site is 2/3 acre Phil. A lot of work for the Head Gardener and his helper;D

You will recognise quite a number of them, Paul!
Theres three of your "New Plants" in the bottom two photos.
I'll put a few names to them later.

Yes, he certainly does around these parts :D
Don't look too closely at the top of the garden. Its somewhere on the list to be reclaimed!
Note the trunks of the conifers I cut down. They required far too much attention, and had grown to the proportions that they were cutting off the evening sun to our neighbours on the other side of that fence.
Haven't finally decided whether to grow Clematis up them or dig them out.

Just had a look over this topic again.
I'm afraid due to my "walking injury" I lost 2 months in spring this year (2021) and I'm working VERY hard to get back to anything near this level!
Its a good target!
