Using BS026 to Switch to an alternative Database on Hard Disc

You can switch to an alternative database on hard disc, external disc, network drive or Flash drive
This exercise describes how to set-up and switch to an alternate folder on Hard Disc

The object
You wish to relocate your Bank Genie data files in another folder on your hard disc.

The process.
1) Create a folder on your computer hard disc called Bank (using Windows Explorer or My Computer).
Any name will do - Ive used Bank for the purpose of this exercise
2) Use System>System Backup Folders - BS197 to configure your Alternate Backup Folder to point to the Bank folder on your computer
3) Use System>Backup Files - BS191, and do a backup to the Alternate Backup Directory (=folder)
Your database files are now mirrored in the Bank folder

To work with the database files in Bank do this:
1) Start Tools>Switch Databases - BS026
2) Click on the Get a Bank Genie Folder button
3) Select the Bank folder on your computer
Bank Genie does an integrity check to make sure ALL required files are present and intact in the folder you select.
If the check is successful, you will get a message, and the Switch button is enabled (its grey and cannot be clicked until it is enabled)
4) Click the Switch button.
You are now working with the files in the Bank folder

Remember that problem we resolved yesterday? It was something very peculiar to your hardware configuration.
That feature, being able to automatically sense the drives and drive types on your computer was the Flower Genie equivalent of what we are talking about here.
You can switch databases in Flower Genie, Ideas Genie, Ideas Genie Pro and Bonsai Genie, and of course, as we are discussing here, Bank Genie.
