Using the BBC button
« on: September 20, 2011, 01:19:02 AM »
This feature has been enabled again.
Ive modified GA004 and GA037.
Download here:

http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA004-dl.exe
When installed, should indicate Version 54 or higher

http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA037-dl.exe
When installed, should indicate Version 27 or higher

We havent set a challenge for ages, so heres one to get us all busy again.
If you have downloaded and installed the Master Database recently, you'll be able to find the plant which is used as the subject matter in this exercise - Clematis 'Comtesse De Bouchaud'.
Use the newly installed GA004 or GA037 and enter comt in the cultivar search field. That should be enough to get it short listed in ther predictive text list. Click in the predictive text list, and then edit the plant to get to the plant profile screen GA100S36.

Then follow the screenshots.

George:

Downloads accomplished, and screenshots printed out.

This is one of those challenges, where you don?t know what you have accomplished until you let it sink into your head. It sure opens another whole world of plant information available to me. I have BBC?s Plant finder at my fingertips.

Well done Toby. Did you locate the plant in the Master Database?
You can do the whole exercise there. Dont worry about changing the data, you can overwrite it all when you download the next update of the Master Database.

I should have said - the BBC button doesn't always get an exact hit, but if it exists on the BBC website, the plant you have selected will be included in the list which appears. You may have to scroll, and you may have to advance to a second page.

I'll explain other little snippets of info as you go. Heres the first:
Try clicking the Genus button while in screen GA100S64 (where the web page is hosted)
