No there isnt one yet, but if you think its useful, I could do one.

Thats the fields I mentioned above that are unfinished in my earlier posting.
The captions are set out as you can see.
Currently you have (as per your label)
Height
Flowering time
Colour
Sunlight
Zones
Prune

Those topics are only suggestions, for discussion with Toby , for US use.
I will make it so a) those captions are editable in the program, and b) you can enter the values for each caption.

As you have found in your testing, the text under the photo is free text which you can already enter in the program.
I'll leave that as is.

Now youve started it off, I could do with input from all as to what other captions they think should be included there.

firstly it would be good to have the same layout but on 6x4 photo paper, i think ideal if you do car boots or sell from home etc as all the info will be there and they will last longer than normal paper plus no need to laminate as you just put them away till next time

got you on the unfinished fields now, for the uk would you need zones, but if its a standard layout then leave it, add plant type ?,
over to discussion

Spread of plant would be useful.

On the original that I took this from, there is also listed:

Type of Plant: (Annual)
Special Attrributes: (Container Plants, Showy Flowers)
Susceptible to: (Black Spot, Root Rots)

The (words) of course, would be your own data.

If selling price is a factor, you might want to include area for that.

Happy you guys are taking action on the UK labeling program, now I know how George feels, when somebody takes one of his 'babies' and goes with it!

Well Toby, George has done so much for us by giving us these fantastic programs, that the least we can do is make them the success they deserve.  :)

Use them to the very best of our abilities and request enhancements by adding additional features whenever necessary.

Software programs are forever evolving, so any program is never really finished.

Todays research was to investigate the use of Richtext in data fields in my software, as suggested by a US Bonsai Genie use (not a forum member)
I got it working nicely in a test program, so I will be able to do this.

On the way home, I realised that it would be great for this particular (labels) application.

Rich text allows you to make text bold, change font, select colours for text, underline etc.
Using that, the fields we are talking about could be free text (a region where you type you own text) and the user could edit to provide any text they wanted.
Then they could use the richtext buttons (Bold, italics etc) to format the elements of thje text to their precise requirements.
Thus, the user would not be restricted to the captions I set. They could do it any way they wish  8)

Need to do more work on this development.

No need to be sorry Phil. On the contrary, its time for rejoicing  :)
When people are keen to use the software and offer suggestions to move it on further, I'm more than happy.
All these little enhancements add up!
As Toby said, these program are each like babies to me, and I think Toby has adopted that particular one!
Its really nice to have help to make them grow and mature.

OK, more development work his morning, and I'm over the moon!
Heres an example of what Ive done with GA048, using richtext.
Note the Bold and lower case mix down the RHS of the label
That is now free text, so you can type in anything you like, make selected words bold, underline, coloured etc.

Something new for you to try.
After more than a week of research, Richtext has now been added to IG Pro.
Ive worked it into the Labels program.

2 Downloads:
a) GA048
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA048-dl.exe

b) Labels:
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/labelcds-dl.exe

Start IG Pro
Under Labels tab start GA048
Should indicate Version 20 when started up

In the Select a Label pop-up, select Orion #311 54LC
Click on the New Labels button
Proceed as normal to add plants to the two label images in the template.
Click Edit.
This takes you to a new screen with the richtext options.
See what you can do with it.

Heres what I did in my testing:

It goes to make it a good days work  :)
Now looking forward to hearing from Toby. Hes been waiting quite a long time for me to finish the design for that particular Orion label.
I hope our other members will give it a try.

Here's a screenshot of my second test today.  GA048S02 is in the background and GA048S08 above it when I click to EDIT.

As you can see I'm not getting the error boxes that Phil and Malcolm are getting, but what I am getting (which I hadn't noticed before), is that once I've added two different plants and click on the top one to edit, the plant I added in the top box is duplicated over the one below it.

I get the same result with version 22 installed.

I notice that in Phil's screenshot of GA048S02, he also has the same plant name duplicated in both boxes.

(Windows XP)

Problem No 1
RE: (Malcolm)
Quote
richtx32.ocx
Thanks for that additional info. Makes it a lot easier for me.
I'll set that up as a download for you and Phil. Watch this space.
Try this in the meantime.
Do a search (Start/Search) for richtx32.ocx on your computer
Let me know if you find it.

Problem No 2 (reported by Laurie)
Quote
once I've added two different plants and click on the top one to edit, the plant I added in the top box is duplicated over the one below it.

When you touch (click) a label, you fill it with the name of the plant which is selected from the list on the right.
Thus,  select a plant from the list on the right , touch a label.
Repeat touch for same plant if necessary.
Heres where I think you are having the problem.
When you do that, you may be changing the name of the plant on that label youve clicked.
To EDIT, you dont have to touch (click) on the label.
Its a mock of the template, not a list of plants.
Instead, simply clck the Edit button to go to screen GA048S08
In GA048S08, you can edit each plant youve added to labels.
In GA048S08 you have to click the plant name in the list to select the plant to allow you to edit its label.
Does that help Lauriie?
