RE (Phil)
if i clicked on run it would have downloaded the normal way and not been able to save to desktop
If you click on Run in that particular download there are a number of dialog boxes during the Installation.
Look for the dialog box with the title:
Location to save filesClick the
Change button and select your Desktop
Continue.
In your case (Vista)
When finished, look on your desktop for this file:
gkrichtext.msiRight click on it
Click
Run as AdministratorMore information:The download file is called: richtext-dl.exe
That file is a "carrier" and contains the file gkrichtext.msi, zipped up in the .exe file.
You are used to the file ?carried? in a download to be a program (e.g. GA048)
In this special case, the file carried is ALSO an installer, so the process has an extra step.
Heres the difference between choosing SAVE and choosing RUN.The process applies to this particular (special) download.
1) The SAVE optionStep a) If you take the option (during download) to save it then the file with that name is saved on your computer.
You can save to a folder or save to Desktop
Step b) Locate the downloaded file (richtext-dl.exe ) in the location you chose to save it
VISTA USERS : Right click on it, then click
Run as AdministratorNON VISTA USERS: Double click on it
Look for the dialog box with the title:
Location to save filesClick the
Change button and select your Desktop
That ?releases? the file (gkrichtext.msi ) from the ?carrier? and saves it on your desktop.
Step c) Locate the file gkrichtext.msi on the desktop
VISTA USERS : Right click on it, then click
Run as AdministratorNON VISTA USERS: Double click on it
That installs the file automatically
2) The RUN optionStep a) If you take the option (during download) to RUN
Look for the dialog box with the title:
Location to save filesClick the
Change button and select your Desktop
That ?releases? the file (gkrichtext.msi ) from the ?carrier? and saves it on your desktop.
Step b) Locate the file gkrichtext.msi on the desktop
VISTA USERS : Right click on it, then click
Run as AdministratorNON VISTA USERS: Double click on it
That installs the file automatically
As you can see, the RUN option has one step less that the SAVE process.
