Tested for a couple of hours yesterday - Ducked in from a shower of rain - did some testing and found the problem within minutes  :D
It was a bit of a teaser. It fixes the problem discussed with Laurie (Photo being "substituted")
It may also fix the problem Malcolm has noticed. Let me know Malcolm.

Just installed the latest version 26 and opened up the label set I had posted here.

Deleted the Cosmos 'Purity' image then brought it in again.

During the editing stage the Cosmos appears in the top left label slot as intended, but when I click the Print button and get the Preview, it's being replaced again by the Osteospermum image.

I'll wait to hear any other suggestions from you George before I completely delete that label set and do another one to test.

Laurie.

Make sure you click Edit and go into GA048S08 Laurie. I expect you did that, but Ive mentioned it just in case.

I noticed another quirk, Laurie, but its something I cant do much about.

Everyone please note:
In Screen GA048S08, when you click the Save button it should become invisible- every time.
If it doesnt, click Save again.
Let me know it that helps.

Problem solved George.

You won't believe this.  I read and re-read your posting about the SAVE button becoming invisible in screen GA048S08.

When I was in this screen earlier today to re-insert the Cosmos image, I didn't get a SAVE button, so I just closed the screen.

I have just re-opened my label set and gone into GA048S08, but his time I went into a text box and added something.  Immediately, the SAVE button became visible.  I pressed it, closed down the screen and clicked PRINT.  The Preview then gave me the label layout with Cosmos where it should be.

So I think the trick here is that just manipulating images doesn't activate the SAVE button, which is where I was getting this problem.

Anyway, the SAVE button for me DOES DISAPPEAR after it is pressed ONCE.

Hope this helps George.

So, just to prove it has worked, here is the correct layout I got:

Laurie.

That sounds good.

Another tip for everyone:
The Save button only appears when youve change something in screen GA048S08.
If you want to force it to appear, just go into any field and hit any key, even the spacebar.

Now Ive got to help Phil. He's got 2 labels on one page, the others on a second page.

Thanks Malcolm.
If it prints borderless, it should print the 4 labels in this design on one page without throwing a second page.

Each label is surrounded by a rectangle.
(If users find its a problem I can remove it.)

However, in this early stage, its good for testing.
Each of you doing this test shouls see the entire rectangle around each of the four labels.
If not, please let me know.

Are you seeing the entire rectangle, Phil?

seeing 2 rectangles on print preview but seeing 4 rectangles on GA048S02, Sorry i have missed a lot of input here but been very busy, george watch your pm's later (laughs like dr evil  ;D;)

downloaded v26 and i still have same problem printing over 2 pages, 2 rectangles at top of each page, in screen GA048S02 showing 4 rectangles with palnt name and all this code text i each rectangle

Try printing to hard copy Phil.
When you do that, you get a prompt to select a printer AND to adjust your preferences.
In preferences, make sure you select LANDCSAPE
Lets see how that works.

If still coming out 2 on page 1 and 2 on page 2, then please report the following information.
In GA048S02, make each label different (i.e. 4 plants)
Referring to the labels in relation to where they display in GA048S02 as TL (Top left) TR (Top right) BL (Bottom left) and BR (bottom right), please let me know which ones appear on Page 1 and which on Page 2

Ive tweaked the label, making it a little smaller.
I would appreciate if everyone would give it a try and make user its OK on your printer.

Let me know if it fixes your problem Phil.

Version 27 installed successfully.

4 labels per sheet still displays correctly and a printout is also perfectly laid out on one side of an A4 sheet of paper.

[Printer is Canon Pixma iP4300 colour inkjet.]

Thats great Laurie, thanks for the feedback. They are slightly smaller, at the expense of white space.

Thanks Malcolm.
Another hurdle has been negotiated  :D

I'll now do another set of labels, in Portait orientation (something similar to the photos you use for your sales display)

Thanks George will look out for that.

The labels we have already will be used again on Saturday afternoon, we have a garden club coming on a private visit, supposed to be 30 people, and they want tea and cake as well. So as it will only be Lyn and I on duty, we will have to regiment them a bit,
Garden first, then tea and cake, then plant sales. ;D

Have been busy adding some more pictures to our wpg, as and when they flower in the garden, still 140 ish to go  ;D

Just so that you know that I'm still in the ballgame, I have the same problem I had earlier with the other layout.

With the A4 - 4 labels - landscape, I can save copy at top and bottom of photo, but not to the right. Otherwise, I can print out nicely, using US legal size (8.5" X 14") paper.

No rush to fix, I have no immediate need.

RE:

I can save copy at top and bottom of photo, but not to the right
There should not be any problem saving the data, Toby

Heres a summary of the rules when entering text in GA048S08
a) Click into the text region you wish to edit
b) You may click one of the buttons under Sources for Text
The data retrieved is added to the text region you selected before clicking a button
c) We have a problem in that the text runs past the margin on the right side
Thats something Ive wrestled with, but had to leave it for the time being.
Heres the workaround.
Do a preview and see where the text IS printed to before being truncated
Edit the labels again.
Put cursor at beginning of first word which does NOT appear on the printed label.
Hit the Return (Enter) button, to create a line break.
Do that until the long text you have entered fits the label.
You can do that in any of the three text regions.
I haven't managed to find a solution to this yet. Its to do with the Richtext control, and for that reason beyond my control

Does that help Toby. If not, please explain some more about your problem.

No, George, sorry but it doesn?t solve my problem.  But, I have no immediate need for the layout right now. .

There has to be one more SOURCE OF TEXT on that Orion layout. Just to stick a name on it, I will call it IMMEDIATE EDIT. The text that I need to have on my Orion label print-out does not appear in any of the sources that are listed.

After I enter my own text data to TOP, BOTTOM and to the RIGHT of the photo using RichText, and choosing my type fonts and sizes, etc., I should be able to save ALL of that text copy and be able to print it out.

I accomplished what I want to do, by going back and creating data on another size label of the same plant, and entered the text with the default font and size. Then going back to the actual Orion label and clicking on the PREVIOUS LABEL(S) that I just created, I can then use that copy to the right of the photo and resize or change with RichText, save it, and then I can print it out.

But that?s a round about way of accomplishing doing my own IMMEDIATE EDIT. If you take a look at that screen-shot that I posted earlier, you can see what I want to accomplish. I could not print that out either but it does appear on the screen-shot. I couldn?t save it to do so.

I'm not sure I have understood this correctly, Toby, but heres my best response with what I do understand.

I'd like to get the "mechanics" of this sorted out at this stage Toby.
Bear in mind that what we do here in GA048S08 will be used in future label designs.
All new labels will be Richtext, as it gives flexibility to the user.
I will also rework the older labels as time allows.

Heres my response to your posting.
1) You can save anything you edit in GA048S08
If you can type it and format it, you can Save it.
2) You can print anything you save.
The only problem is that if a long(ish) line of text doesn't fit the allocated space in the label design at printout stage, it gets truncated.
The process in my previous posting explains how to "work around" that.
By trial and error in Editing and Preview you will be able to print everything you edit and save in GA048S08

Question 1:
Are you OK with that, or are you having problems?

Next:
Sources for Text - The Previous Labels button.
Clicking that button takes you to screen GA048S07
Before the Rich Text feature was added, there was only one "data region" saved.
Now there are three (one each for Top, Right and Bottom respectively)
Currently, screen GA048S07 only shows one data region.
I will amend the program to show all three, with options to reuse any one of the three data items you choose.
Question 2:
Would that help your IMMEDIATE EDIT?
If not, what do you mean by IMMEDIATE EDIT?

George:

Your response is certainly OK with me. As I indicated earlier, there was no immediate need on my part to use the A4 label layout, and I?m sure as you work with the ?mechanics? of both the US and UK label programs and get everything sorted out, it will be fine.

Answer to question #1 ? Yes, perfectly fine with that! No problems on my part.

Answer to question #2 ? Yes, I think by the time you have taken the label program(s) through the steps you?ve indicated, everything will turn out OK! If there is a need for IMMEDIATE EDIT, I?m sure it will also be included.

Will work with both the UK and US labels as you release new developments.

Thanks, for all you do.

- Toby
