Looks like the ink used in my Canon ip4500 may not work too well with the Ripped sheets 104000 paper

Extract from Ripped Sheets Website
To obtain a high degree of water resistance, use only pigmented inks.  Typical dye-based inks yield good color, but with repeated exposure to water and UV rays fading and bleeding will occur.  Let image dry 24 hours before exposing to moisture.  Dirt and stains cannot be cleaned from the surface without damaging the image.  Excessive folding or creasing can damage the imaged surface.  Laminating is recommended to protect the surface from dirt and abrasion.

Extract from Canon Website
ChromaLife 100+ works by combining Canon?s FINE technology with Canon Genuine
Photo Paper, which offers vivid colour and high durability, and dye-based inks, which
allow rich colour reproduction and further durability

I have my sheet. :)
My ink jet printer is a Brother DCP-375CW
Do we just print using normal settings not photo settings or anything like that???
I see its Avery 5523 we should use.

Ive been working on the test guidelines (mostly suggested by Toby) and have produced a web page. Toby is reviewing and we are finalising the document.
Should be ready by tomorrow, so please hold off until we have this released.

OK, the man from Seattle says Yes :)

Before you start, please download the latest version of GA048
Ive made a minor tweak to the label template you will be using.
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA048-dl.exe
When installed, start GA048 (under Labels tab)
Should indicate Version 37 (or higher)

Heres what we (mostly Toby) have come up with:
http://www.ideasgenie.co.uk/Labels/RippedSheets/rippedsheets.html

Please read over this document before making up your labels and using them.

In particular:
a) please note that we would like you to treat each of the ten labels as individual Tests.

b) Study the section on Photos. Ive described how to get the best photo possible for your labels.

c) The fun bit is to see how you will mount the labels.
Ive suggested you use your DIY skills. Phil has already replied with one of his ideas ;)

I will follow up with a screen shot of the labels I have prepared and to show (initially) what happens if your photos are not the correct aspect ratio - 8x10. Don't worry, it will work just fine - you just don't fill the box for the photo to its maximum.

Over to you folk!

Another tweak to the #5523 label
Please download GA048 again:
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/GA048-dl.exe
When installed, start GA048 (under Labels tab)
Should indicate Version 39 (or higher)

Why?
Toby reported that the text was being truncated on his HP 600 Mono printer, but was OK on his Epson R220 color printer.

Most likely to do with Printable area for that particular printer. See this topic where we discussed this previously:
http://www.flowergenie.co.uk/ideas/forum/index.php/topic,1073.0.html

UK members - Try a Print on A4 - Is the text registering correctly on the left border?
If you are seeing the same problem with Version 38 please let me know

Edited the previous posting. GA048 now at Version 39. Check when using.
Ive removed the niggly "Have you save these changes" message.
Instead, the changes are saved automatically when you click the Done (Save) button
If for any reason you DONT want to save, use the Window X (Close) button at the top right of screen.

Phil has already replied with one of his ideas  ;)
my lips are sealed, have downloaded all updates and did notice the save/done button, nice touch

this is what i have so far a few questions before i commit to a proper print out

1, is the bold text meant to be higher than the photo and in some cases run across the top of photo
2, all text fits on A4 with a larger border on the left
3, do you need any more info on label apart from already mentioned date and make of printer
4, how are we keeping records is their a chart or something to download so as we all have the same info to input

Thinking cap still on for other materials to stick label to

Hey, thats looking real good Phil! Your photos look just perfect!
Answers (respectively) for 1 to 4
1 Yes, right to the right edge of the photo above the label
2 Yes, looks good.
3 Yes, Number them Test #1 to Test #10 (you have room for another line below your text)
4 Keep your own records and also email to me
I'll pull all the results together. Any photos of mounts would be great ;)

Well I have the GA048 now at version 39, thanks to George for fixing an error earlier.
I printed a sheet complete with pictures, just to see and it looks like the layout that Phil has. ;D
Will look for some mounts now and then plants.  :)

It wasnt an error as such Paul.
It was a file structure change, required by the program since I made a change for the previous label for Toby.
When you downloaded the latest file set, the program was happy again :)
Good all is well now!

Heres my effort, deliberately made with two images which are not the optimum aspect ratio.
http://www.ideasgenie.co.uk/Labels/reportpreview.jpg

Ive used a Landscaper photo with the normal 4x3 aspect ratio for Campanula punctata f. rubriflora
Note how it is OK for width, but short on height

Ive used a Portrait photo with the normal 3x4 aspect ratio for Polemonium caeruleum Brise d'Anjou   (one of the plants which Paul put through the trials system for Blooms of Bressingham)
Note how it is OK for height, but short on width.

The other photos are the optimum aspect ratio 8x10

Sorry being a bit late on this.

Have downloaded the new file now showing ver 39 but

When GA048 is started this comes up

File c:\...\application data\ideasforgardens\ideas genie pro 5\lablots.dbf does not exist.

If I click ignore then GA048S01 comes up ok

Chose label then program error

Variable LABELDETS is not found

I havent tried any further.

Same thing as Paul.
You need this download:
http://www.ideasgenie.com/updates-igpro/igpro-fileset-ende.exe
It has a new file structure for the labels program - an enhancement for a label for Toby recently.

I've set up my 10 plants in IG Pro and have done a test print on A4 paper.

The result looks fine to me, but have not done the print to the labels sheet as yet.

Here's a screenshot of my result.

I'll wait until all our testers are at the stage of committing our results to the Ripped Sheets, then we can all start together for the 'weather' experiment.

Laurie.

Good work Laurie!
The printer and ink you are using should give good results.
Have you tried printing onto A4 paper?
