Jessie (3fren on the forum) sends me email with photos and video links attached quite regularly.
When I asked what they did in Singapore at Christmas, she replied with a link to a blog by her friend.
In her email reply Jessie said:

Friend at Botanical Garden had very good photos and write up.. you might want to take a look and introduce to our Forum.
I will ask yk  to join us.
.. he took some photos of the Orchard Road during the day which is not stunning.. the night view is better.

I followed the link and was amazed at the extent of yk's blog.

As you can see,yk is keenly interested in photography, plants and astronomy.
In an email yk tells me:

  Astronomy especially video meteor is my night hobby

How do you study the night sky when you live in a multi story in Singapore.
Even our own Mr Gadget will be impressed by this solution!

Without access to the roof top i have to rely on the ad hoc scheme of sticking out a wooden pole with ccd  at the end for my night patrol of 'moving objects'
in the night sky.  It had worked reliably so far ( last 5 years!). 
Again being able to record  ( still images) and present video clips ( if
needed) provide a means of sharing with others.

On the plants world, yk tells me

I am particularly curious about fruit/seeds form of all sorts.

In his blog you will find why! Some of the photos are of the specimens taken at Singapore Botanical Gardens (SBG) where he works.

Many thanks for the welcoming message. I hope i can contribute interesting plant fotos when i come across next time. Sbg here is a rich venue to do fruit hunting. Just look to the ground for fallen fruits and look up to see the parent plants. i was a 'L' license trainee guide for a little while in SBG and meet Jessie on-line. I didnt work there. I once stopped the taxi on way to airport  just to pick up a hard shell fruit and brought along to destination.

Ive a lot of exploring to do there yet, and exploring is a good word to describe it! You have lots of fascinating material there, dating back a number of years.
Many of our members share your interest in photography, so we have many things in common.

As I mentioned in our email exchange earlier, I'd like to pass on some of the things you explained to me, to our members.
yk tells me:

chia is my surname, yk is initial for yeong kwong my name. In this part of the world it is common to call some one initials+Surname.

I for one didnt know that.

I asked if there was a special significance to his blog name and yk replied:

if u notice this is my blog name meaning vision everywhere

Apt for a guy who studies the night sky!
