More on the Resize program - GA051
« on: January 18, 2010, 11:39:14 PM »
George:

I not making it at attempting to post the scanned image of a page from a book to this Topic. All I can tell you is that it is in My Documents, a jpeg image 107, and I can open it to view. How I get it to GA051 Resize I don't understand. I feel like a total dunce, but this is the only way I can learn. I've attempted the process of making a new folder called 'temp', but I have failed. Is that twenty lashes for me? I know I have made new folders in the past, but this one eludes me. The scanner instructions are not helping either.

User My computer and get into the folder My documents
Right click in white space
Shortcut menu appears
Click New
Then click Folder
Blue rectangle appears enclosing text= New folder
Overwrite New Folder by typing temp  :D ;D (or if you like dunce - see- you can call it anything you like)
Click in white space and your new folder has been renamed as temp

Now start GA051 and follow instructions previous instructions.
When I said:
Quote
Point Location for Originals to where your photos are
I meant, click Get a folder and find the folder containing your photos= Location for Originals (ie point the dog at the rabbit - point Ideas Genie at the photos - give it a wee clue  ;D)
Oh to have Skype Share Screens working :D

George:

Just for your pleasure, I've named my New Folder 'temp dunce'. That's a premonition on my part! Someday!

But, you didn't tell me how to get the scan 'jpeg 107' into 'temp dunce'. Isn't that what I have to do. I think that's the problem; when I scan I don't see anything that gives me a choice as to the folder to place the scan. (I hope I'm saying that right.) it just appears as the newest jpeg image in My Documents.  If I click on 'Get A Folder' in GA051 and find 'temp dunce' I get 'No Files In This Folder'

Should I go through my scanner user's guide, again, and look for instructions to direct the scan?

Screen Sharing; yes, my thoughts too, while I was making the attempt.  Some day I hope! Some day, some day, some . . . . .

Thats the method you are using to create your original jpeg.
The scanner appears to be making an image and putting it into the folder called My Documents

You need to know the locations of TWO folders before you start GA051.
1. you need to know where the folder is with your originals. In GA051 this is referred to as the Locations for Originals folder
2. you need to have an OUTPUT folder. In GA051 this is referred to as the Locations for Reduced copies folder.

GA051 takes photos you select in the Originals folder (1) above and makes a special copy - a reduced in size copy - in folder (2)

NOTE: After you have created your images from your scans, open GA051 and do NOT do any more with the scanner.
Its job is done in creating the jpegs

Start the program Tools-> Resize Photos - GA051 in Ideas Genie Pro
(1) Click the Get a folder button beside Location for Originals
Locate My Documents folder
When you do that, you should see your jpegs listed
If not click Get a folder again and keep exploring until you find the folder with your scanned images
When you see them listed, proceed to (2)

(2) Click the Get a folder button beside Location for Reduced copies
Locate the folder you created called temp dunce  ::) (Glad its only temp :D)

Now set the values of Max Height and Max width to 600 (for use when posting on the forum)
Double click to select (and deselect) photos in the list to be resized.
When selected, three stars (***) are added as a prefix in the list
Click the Do selected button

IG Pro will make reduced copies of the images you selected and add them to the temp dunce folder

Go open that folder using MY Computer and you should see your new images. Each should be less than 125kb in size

Then when you got to post a message, click Additional options, click the Browse button and locate the images in temp dunce
That will fill the field in Attach
Do one image at a time per posting
