What a day!
« on: May 02, 2010, 10:19:35 PM »
No gardening today!

I moved 3 of my websites to new servers recently.
All the HTML transfers went fine.

Then came the tricky bits
First, transferring my main mySQL database, used for registering IG BG etc.
That wasnt too bad, after a few trials and errors

Then, as I thought, the easy bit to finish the job - getting my php scripts to work with the database on the new server.
Yip, youve guessed - they failed.
Theres nothing so  annoying when something which works perfectly suddenly breaks...

I spent most of the day researching. At first I thought it was to do with my security settings in the newly installed IE8.
That was a bit of a red herring, just to add to the misery.

To cut a VERY long story short, I found the solution on this website:

All it took was two simple lines of code added to the script, and Bingo - all running sweet as honey.
Matt Thommes, from Chigago, thank you so much!

Very frustrating indeed George.

Glad you got sorted out eventually.

Laurie.

A huge relief, Laurie. I wouldnt have liked to have to sleep on that problem.

We had a walk in the park in Hillsborough so I had a break from the mental torture. Ive been keeping an eye out for the bluebells, and we spotted a few in bloom, early stages. Another week or two and there should be a fine show.

Bitterly cold here today. Time now to watch the footie on TV. Tara was at the Liverpool -v- Chelsea match today. She sure is a dedicated Liverpool fan! She was there on Thursday evening as well when they were narrowly beaten by Athletico Madrid.
I'll settle for a nice comfortable armchair to watch the highlights. I might just have a beer ;D

Seems rather complicated.
I have to work I'm afraid.
Bluebells here are budding up, I believe they will out this week and may already be out in some areas.
Very cold here today with heavy showers, forecasting a frost for most nights this week.
Paul.

Yes, cold here again - but at least its dry and I'm out in the garden.
May is usually very warm - the best month in the year in my opinion - hope that wind direction changes soon - Northerly winds in May :o
