Yes it would have been quite a job attatching threads to each of the flowers. 

Those are actually in the "Exotic" garden, hence the colours in the background. They are back underground by the time the exotic plants get going.

I can see a nice display (seems to be increasing each year) in my spring garden outside our French windows. Haven't ventured out with the camera though
Naughty suggestion here - perhaps an undercurrent of wind like that in the famous clip in a MM film would work
I'm now picturing Mr Gadget constructing an improvised bit of kit from a hair dryer
