After having a problem shutting down Windows 7, I found that the next time I started Bank Genie Pro 4 the Main Menu at the top of the screen was missing as well as the usual minimise, maximise and close buttons.  I "googled" the problem and found the solution was to right click on the Bank Genie application in the taskbar whilst holding down the shift key and then clicking on "maximise".  The menu and other buttons were restored.

I've had to support this problem a few times, Ken.
To date (yesterday) my solution was to ask the user to click on the very extreme bottom edge of the Bank Genie screen and drag it down a little. By magic, the Menu bar normally appeared.
That didn't work in our telephone session yesterday, so I am very pleased you found this information.
Its much easier and far less haphazard than my previous "solution".

Many thanks for posting. I shall add it to the Bank Genie User Guide FAQ :)

PS:
Members may be interested to know that it works for any application. There are more options on that Shortcut menu which appears.

Another big "Thank you" to Ken :)
For once it wasn't a worry when you reported that you had that problem Keith.
All I had to do was look for Kens posting and refer you to that.

I too had this problem and followed the advice to right click on the icon and maximize - bingo - problem solved!

Windows 8 seems to create a number of problems - an external hard drive which I have always used for back up (including bank genie) keeps switching itself off - a problem with Windows 8 apparently. Drives you crazy when these things happen and you don't know why - so thanks  for the help with this problem.

Ken's tip did not work for me (perhaps because I'm running Vista) but it got me thinking and googling and eventually I found an answer.

Start up Bank Genie and then press Alt and spacebar together - the menu comes back. I suppose that's what passes for obvious in Wndows.

So thanks Ken for getting me going in the right direction.

Thanks for posting this Alasdair.
That's quite an easy fix to that ridiculous "feature" of windows.
As they say - there more than one way to skin a cat  ;D (Only joking Eric!!)

An added thanks to Ken from me too - worked like a dream.  I now have my task bar back!  Thank you.  And thanks to George for his help with this too.

In Windows 10 just "hover" over the icon in the taskbar and click "move", then use the mose to move a corner and everything is then OK.

PS I am sure I posted that in a different forum posting; are there two on the same topic?

Possibly Barry :)
There's a number of ways to fix that issue. Anyone with the problem will find a solution using one of the methods described when forwarded to this topic.
