Taking a break!
« on: March 19, 2014, 10:13:41 PM »
Mary and I are on vacation. Marys brother has a winter residence in Palm Springs, CA. Every time they talk on the phone he has been extending an invitation to come visit. Finally we accepted.
We flew out on Monday for our 2 week holiday. A very long haul but, boy was it worthwhile.
What a beautiful place!!!! The temperature is around 28.

It is a beautiful place which I visited once after attending a conference in Los Angeles.

The cable car ride up the mountain is well worth the trip.

Beautiful it sure is Barry.
Mary's brother kept it a secret that the place is so colourful with plants all year round. The first sight to cheer us up was the walk from the plane to the arrivals and baggage collection area. Flower beds in full bloom along the paths! So different from any airport Ive seen!
We were suitably impressed :D

I hope you and Mary have a wonderful time, George. Come back suitably refreshed. You obviously have an internet connection but don't be tempted to use the computer too often  :) just enjoy yourselves.

Thank you Laurie. We have today and tomorrow to top up our colour before returning home. Its going to be rather different!

There are flowers and flowering shrubs everywhere here. Ive taken lots of photos and will use the new WPG in Ideas Genie 6 to share.

Thanks for keeping the forum active in my absence Laurie :)

Back home safely, as you may have read in another topic.
We didn't sleep much on the long journey (3 flights each way) and were very tired on returning home.
James and Julian (his dad) were there to meet us from the coach ride from Dublin to Belfast.
We enjoyed the big xoxox's ;D I think wee James was glad to see us home  ;D ;D

Hundreds of photos taken. WPG project pending!
I was stunned by the floral beauty around Palm Springs.

You'll need another holiday to recover George after you've sorted through all those photos for your WPG  ;)

Nice to see you back safely and raring to go.

You did indeed miss the 'smog'.  Where we are in the south we did get affected by it last week, with Wednesday being the most air-polluted day.  Plenty of Saharan dust settled on our cars where it was most noticeable.  By Thursday and Friday it had started to clear here moving into London and Norfolk then towards the east coast.

It's now raining today so the air is getting a good cleansing.

Our climate is going crazy  :(

Thanks Laurie, its day 3 and we are now feeling more energetic!
I did manage to cut the grass on Friday (a lovely day) and worked a few hours in the garden yesterday.
Spring is definitely well sprung here :D
