The first user web project using the new WPG in IG Pro 6
« on: November 08, 2015, 01:20:53 PM »
That honour goes to Eric (palustris).
Congratulations Eric!!

Just published today and still undergoing some minor tweaking but I am VERY impressed with what Eric has done here.
http://www.ideasforgardens.net/palustris/Loughborough_AGS_Show_Oct_2015/

Built by Eric using Ideas Genie Pro 6 with a little guidance from Yours truly.
There were a few hiccups. Ideas Genie didn't like some of his photo file names. They had a space just before the .jpg element.
I made a program change to give the use the option to allow Ideas Genie to rename the file, removing the offending space.
Please note: You CAN have spaces in the file names, but NOT at the very end, just before the .jpg element.

Eric usually posts his projects on photobucket so this is the Ideas Genie alternative.
Comments please!

Being the naughty type, I have done another three projects as well. No doubt George will post the Urls for them in good time.
Why not have a go? It is not as hard as it sounds (if I can do it then anyone can).

The Shows are usually very busy, so one needs to choose one's time to go round with the camera. There are various specialist nurseries present and a Member's stall too.

I was working on another set of just pictures of plants taken last year. Then I realised to would take 62 pages with 21 images per page to do it. A little excessive I feel.

More than 1240 photos taken?
Is that in your own garden Eric?

No, these are from all over the place and were intended to be sent to you for the Master Data Base. And if I ever manage to find a way to put them on DVD I will get them to you.
Do you have an SD card reader on your computer?

Wow! Thank you Eric!
I will send you a 4GB Flash drive Eric. Is that big enough?

Ideas Genie Pro uses a) the file name by default on each of the web pages it generates in the Web Projects - GA642 program.
or b) This can be overwritten if you enter you own text.
I notice your have all plant names.
Do you rename all your jpg files to be the same name as the plant in each photo? (meaning method b) will apply?

If yes, That is a colossal amount of work. Great for me if I get those photos, of course.
They will sure swell the number of photos in the Master Database.

Yes, I go through the photos when I get home and rename them. I usually take a picture of the label with the plant to make it easier. It passes the time nicely as there is so little on TV that I watch and my arthritic neck is so bad that reading a book is a penance these days.
There are some in the list which a prefaced with the name of the place where I took the photos rather than just a straight plant name though.
I presume you want the full size images rather than the 640 by 480 ones I use for Photobucket etc?
A Flash Drive of that size would just about get you all that file. Bur not any of this years photos.

I'd prefer the original size files if that's OK
We can do it a couple of exchanges if necessary.
I'll post the Flash drive to you tomorrow (Wed)

So, having looked at them I wonder how hard it would be to alter them?

Hi Eric

Just make the changes in GA642, click Generate in GA642S02 and FTP up to the website again.
Delete the current project on the server before uploading, OR drag it up and overwrite the existing one.

Trouble now is that the link does not go directly to the project, it goes to Apache and then you have to link from there.
Whoops, my mistake, it works now I have done it properly. Will alter the others later.

Still not managing to do this. Just how do I delete the File to be replaced? I have tried and it is still there and that is where the link goes to.
Tried again and the file is still there, despite Delete.
Renamed them Rubbish so at least I can try to transfer the altered folder across.
Moved the altered Folder across and so now the link no longer works.

Loughborough AGS March 2105.
I have uploaded it, successfully.
In the end I Deleted all the files in the old Folder of that name (after renaming it to Rubbish) Then I Deleted the Folder itself. Try as I might I could not get the Program itself to Delete the Folder when it was full.
Very odd.
I still want to alter the other AGS show Projects from this year, to give them a proper first page, in keeping with all the other Show Projects from the past.
