I was wandering around B&Q and this beautiful light blue (to me!) clematis caught my eye. It had beautiful white stamens, and a lime green eye.
Dear enought at £7.98, but before I could argue with it, it had jumped on my cart.
I brought it home and did a quick surf, and in page 1 I found a link to Chrissies web site. Its featured in her Juy 03 diary:
http://www.thegardener.btinternet.co.uk/diaryjuly03.htmlAs you can read from that account, Chrissie fell for this one as well.
More infor here:
http://www.britishclematis.org.uk/plantprofiles/CrystalFountain.htmHeres something of interest to IG Pro users.
On that British Clematis page you will read:
A sport of 'H.F.Young' - CRYSTAL FOUNTAIN is its Trade Name, its registered name is 'Fairy Blue' and was raised in Japan by Hiroshi Hayakawa.
This means the breakdown of its name in IG Pro looks like this:
Genus: Clematis
Set the sub species pop-up to "Trade Name" and put Crystal Fountain in the field beside it.
Cultivar Name: Fairy Blue
Use GA004 to add that plant.
When you go back to the initial screen, Notice the
Plants with Trade Names option buttons in the top right of the initial screen.
Two options, Full and Short
When you choose the short option (the default) the plant name shows up as:
Clematis Crystal Fountain
Now click Full
The plant name now shows as:
Clematis Crystal Fountain (='Fairy Blue')
This complies with the standards in the RHS Plant Finder.
However, the Crystal Fountain part of the name should be a different font, or a smaller font in upper case, like this:
Clematis
CRYSTAL FOUNTAIN (='Fairy Blue')
I dont have any way of doing that in that list, so thats as good as it gets.
On the plant label it does it differently.
Clematis Crystal Fountain
TMNoter the TM symbol, and no upper case.
