Which garden guest is nibbling at this hellebore? The patterns have regular roundings.

My RHS A-Z Encyclopedia lists slugs in the Pests and Diseases section for Helleborus.
Heres a web page with info on possible pests:
http://www.gardenworld.co.uk/hellebore3a.asp
Heres a good tip. Grow them in pots, to best provide their natural requirements:

Theres atip there if you really want a Christmas Rose to be in bloom on the day!
I di the above seaches iusing the text "vine weevil helleborus" as I suspected those charming little creatures to be involved.
The larvae may damage the roots.
This site may explain the reason for your pretty pattered leaves:

Look under Black Vine Weevil and find this:
Look for C-shaped leaf notching
and on the trail, heres an article about the Black Vine Weevil:
http://web1.msue.msu.edu/imp/modzz/00001742.html
Got that page from a link on this page:

Thought it woud be a good idea to book-mark it here. Folow the links for some very good info.

Good source of info, George, but I think I'm going to ignore these bad creatures. If I understood it well they can do the most of harm when the plants are potted. Perhaps better not going for that Christmas rose in bloom
